O.K. TIME TO VENT !!!

Can someone more knowledgable of "blogging" explain this to me??? When I first decided to become a blogger I signed up. I was suppose to get a confirmation by e-mail with-in about 15 days that I was offically a blogger. But I didn't.

Then when I was trying to get started I was having some problems and could'nt find the answers in their help data base and their info. said I could e-mail for help. So I did. But I never got a reply.

So here I am blogging away, and communicating with people, and they are blogging away. And all the while I am wondering . Am I really a blogger?? Are you really a Blogger?? (did you get your conformation), Or am I living some kind of "virtual reality" dream here? Am I going to blog my little heart out only to wake up one day and find my site gone, and no one (including the adminstrator) will ever even know that I've been here. Will you still be here??

Have you ever heard from the administrator? Are you a confirmed blogger? Am I the only one floating around in "cyber blog space" to fall into the black whole of the "blogsphere" never to be heard of again. I hope not, I really like it!

But think about it. It could happen. For the past week at least there has been so many problems. Sometimes I can post a comment sometimes I can't. Sometimes I can view some ones blog, other times that page pops up that says " Can not find". But I know they are still there, so why can't they find. Sometimes it's days before I can find the site again, And if things are just jammed up because there is a lot of traffic, I can understand that, but I wish they would just say that.

I think one day we are all going to wake up and everyone is going to find on there own blog spot------

One BIG sign that says------------------CAN NOT FIND----------------------------------

Hey, me again...I think I can help you out. Everyone who has an account with Blogger has been experiencing these same problems. So rest assure that you are NOT alone and we ALL are equally annoyed and frustrated with the stability of the Blogger servers right now.

I posted about this issue on my blog last week, not sure if you saw it. It's true that you get what you pay for...or in this case, you get what you DON'T pay for. I suppose with that theory in mind, since Blogger is a free service, that we should be more tolerant of such problems. Ugh. I'm sure that doesn't make you feel any better than it does me. However, there are a few things you can do. Make a point to bookmark these two links for future reference...

Blogger Known Issues

Blogger Status is updated periodically when there are any Blogger server issues to report. That way you (as a blogger user) can see if there are technically issues occurring beyond your control and find out when you can expect the service to return back to normal.

Blogger Known Issues is a list of "bugs" or problems that your Blogger account may experience. So sometimes it's best to check there FIRST before you write tech support. Alot of the time it's a "bug" and not something you did that is causing the problem.

As far as writing to tech support...some company's are good about their customer service and others are not. I have written to Blogger tech support before years ago and got a prompt reply, but perhaps they aren't as helpful as they once were. I'm sure they get swamped with questions, so keep that in mind. Also, I wouldn't worry that you didn't get some type of canned confirmation e-mail sent to you when you opened your Blogger account. Your ISP may of blocked it thinking it was spam. No matter what happened to it, I think your blog is safe. Try not to worry so much. ;) I hope that answers your questions.

Yes it does Thank You! And I do try to look things up but it is frustrating sometimes to find it then not be able to understand it because it has so much computer terminalogy in it and I don't understand any of that yet.

No problem. If you have any other tech/computer questions about anything, feel free to ask me. I'm tech savy or a computer guru if you want to call it that. My Grandmother is 85 and is connected online, e-mail and all. So if she can do, anyone can do it.

We were all new at something once, so don't worry about it. You sound like you are on the right path anyways, since you try and look for answers yourself first before contacting tech support. Alot of what I've learned thru the years has been self taught, so hang in there. You'll catch on before you know it.

I'm trying. I really love computers. It's a whole new world. Not just the blogging all of it. All the things you can look up and do with it. It's great.

Yeah I know what you mean. I bet you have surfed ALOT of porn already. :P

Just kidding. That is what guys do the first time they ever get online. I remember in high school we would type "naughty" words in and be amazed at the millions of sites that came up matching. Of course like anything, the novelty wore off.

Just make sure you run some anti-spyware and anti-virus software on your computer. If you have Windows, keep it updated. Then you have little to worry about when it comes to the malicious side of the internet.

I'm thinking about posting some how-to guides on my blog next week for new computer users or computer users who just need a refresher course in a few areas. You might want to check that out if you think about it and have time.

You bet, I'll take notes!! My biggest problem in reading computer instuctions is that I don't know even the simple computer terms like-- example: change "urls" Now your gonna laugh but I would think o.k. I well but what is it? I finally fund out.
O.K. quit laughing.
I don't blame you it's pitiful.

OMG, we were just talking about Letterman the other day and it just now came over the news that someone was going to kidnap his son and nanny. It was a man that had been doing painting around his house.

This isn't meant to be mean and say you are a dummy, but if you need help with some of the basic computer jargon...then you might get alot of good info out of simple/to the point books like "The Internet for Dummies".

They will cover the vocab and give you pretty much all you want or need to know to get the most out of your online time and enjoy it more. I'm not sure if you are into other aspects of computers (like learning a particular program or something), but if you just want to get familiar with the online stuff, then that is a good book to check out.

If you rather learn online reading thru a site, then I could give you some sites to check out if you want.

Don't worry your not offending me. I am a dummy a computer dummy ha ha. Anyway serviously I have heard about the dummy books.

But I have'nt bought one because someone told me about another book that was even better (simpler) But I miss-placed the piece of paper that I put the name of the book on. And I can't remember who told me because it wasn't someone I really knew.
You know someone in passing or a friend of a friend.

You nailed it on the head, that's what I have trouble with the "jargon" Like now above this comment box it says "You can use tags" and it shows them . I read something about tags when I first set up this site. But I still didn't quite understand and I'm afraid of experimenting with something I don't know about. I' afraid I'll mess something up and won't be able to fix it.

Tags in the Blogger world refer to that junk between and around the < > brackets. You can find a list of all the template tags Blogger uses here.

http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=778&query=tags&topic=0&type=f

Since you are still rather new at all the computer stuff, I suggest you stay away from playing around with your Blog tags. If you do want to experiment and learn, that's great but just make sure you backup ALL the code that is listed in your template. That way if a user error occurs, you can go back to the old/safe working version without much hassle. I hope what I said there makes sense to you. Good luck!

I think I'll leave the tags alone for a while. I'm glad you told me about it though.
