I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS

I can't remember what I was looking for, but quite awhile back I was surfing the net and fell upon this news article that I found absolutely charming. At the time all I could think of was what a lovely thing to do and I think I'll just tuck this little URL away in draft for one of those days when I feel 'brain dead', (which happens often) and I can't think of a thing to blog about.

For 58 years there has been a daily Flag-Lowering Ritual at the Pakistan-India Border, but it is done in such a special way that you just have to read it yourself.

Please have a look. See the picture and read a lovely news story for a change. I think you will enjoy it. I really found it interesting.

Isn't it ironic that this is in fact a celebration of 'borders'; a border that divides two peoples who look the same, share cuisines, languages, and a common culture!

Velu, Yes, I agree, it would be nice.

Id it is,
It truely is. But isn't it nice that it is a peaceful celebration, every single evening.
So why then can they not co-exist the rest of the time, I wonder??

Allow me to explain here. One the partition was not "infamous" and the date is August 14, 1947 not October.

The mood reflects the emotions that lead to the division of the Subcontinent into two states - one comprising of Muslim dominated areas as Pakistan and other with Hindu majority into India. Kashmir was muslim dominated but was left disputed by the British and that still is a bleeding wound for both the countries. There has benn three wars over Kashhmir so far.

Those who know the history of the Creation of Pakistan still question British, Why did yu leave Kashmir as you did?

Exseno, thanks for this post.

Shirazi,
Thank you so much for explaining. That is very interesting. So was religion the biggest issue between the people?
And what about Kashmir? Who does it belong to? Or is it independant from both countries?

Such an interesting post Exseno:)

Well yeah watever been stated by Shirazi is so right. Yeah you can say religion was the main reason behind the separation of the two nations and ur question related to Kashmir is still answerless even after 58 years of separation:(

May God resolved this issue as soon as possible for the peace of the region.

Hope u doing fine there.

Takecare.
