STRANGE SEA CREATURES FOUND
If you have read my blog at all then you must know how I love it when there is a new scientific find. On land or sea, it doesn't matter to me. Show me a new found sea creature or a new fossil and I'm ex-static.
Fossils are exciting because they give us one more link to the past and I love that.
But I think that finding a new species of sea creature intrigues me even more, because they are living in the 'here and now'. It's like the earth is our world and the sea is theirs and only theirs.
Who knows what really lurks in the deep or what else is yet to be found. How can we really know that the sailors of long ago didn't really see Mermaids and Gigantic sea creatures and how do we know that they are not still there, smart enough to no longer show their-selves to the barbaric land dwellers that have abused their territory in the past.
Have a look at these new finds. The 'link' to the article is below.

These fast-growing sea squirts were found at Larsen A. This can be an indication of a first step towards a biodiversity change after the collapse of the ice shelves. The animals in the foreground are colonised by two crustaceans and a brittle star. Credit: J. Gutt, Alfred-Wegener-Institute
These deep-sea sea cucumbers are abundant in the Larsen B area. Interestingly they are all heading in the same direction. Credit: J. Gutt, Alfred-Wegener-Institute 2007
The researchers catalogued about 1,000 species in an area of the Antarctic.

Amazing finds, and thank you for sharing them.
"Fossils are exciting because they give us one more link to the past" Now that's a past I'd like to go to and ponder over; a past that'll help me see how far we've come as a species. Unfortunately, we often delve on a past (one that we often call our heritage) that only serves to sadden us and even isolate us from our own.
Oh sorry that you feel that way. I don't feel that way at all. I'm a very indiviual person. I don't think my heritage has effected me at all. I'm just me, either because of my heritage or inspight of it. I'm not sure which? lol
As for my own more personal past, I have had a very difficult trying life, but I don't dwell on it. I learned from it and I have become a stronger person because of it.
I told myself it was all my test from God and boy did he test me, but I think I past the test.
You know, every time we think we know it all - there always seems to be something to come up that we knew nothing about it. It just goes to show that there is a whole world out there that is alive and doing well that we have no clue that they even exist.
I have a couple of degrees in Science. I found it a little ironic that we (the science community) think that we have all the answers. When, in truth, we haven't even began to see all the miracles of life.
Great post!
Love ya,
tlc
This is why I contend that there are life forms on other planets. We don't even know all of the ones on our own planet.
Capt. C,
Well you know I have posted on several other oceanic finds in the past and scientist admit that the ocean has been realively unexplored in the past and that they have really just gotten into exploring it in more depth in the last few years. So we may be finding many more things out there in the future.
Love ya too. Glad to see that you are doing so well!
Damsel Underdressed,
I agree on that totally.
It just so happens that I have found a little something on the possiblities of life forms on other planets that I might be posting one day soon. You may find it interesting.
I knoww @ undiscovered life forms in the sea .. there are just soo many cool and weird creatures down below .. mannn we have yet to discover them. Life exists even in the darkest places.
Nabeel,
I agree, isn't it wonderfully exciting when they find something new. I know from your lovely blog that you have a great love for all living things.
I'll have to take a look at that url you posted.
Wonderful finds.
Sharzi,
Interesting that since they live where the ice is they all look white are sort of transparent.
